RECYCLE YOUR ELECTRONICS AND TEXTILES AT THE REFUGE RECYCLE ROUND UP

Oak Harbor, Ohio — Have outdated electronics or clothing items that are still usable or in rough shape? Take them to the Port Clinton Lakefront Preserve on Saturday, October 17, 2020 (10 am – 1pm) for the second Refuge Recycle Round Up.

Electronics items accepted include: computers/servers, keyboards and mice, monitors/displays, cell phones, storage devices/flash drives, video game consoles, printers, scanners, memory/RAM, networking hardware, stereo equipment/speakers, and projectors (no TVs/ CRT monitors). Textile items accepted include anything made from cloth or artificial fabric like vinyl. Nearly all textiles can be recycled, such as: clothing (pants, jeans, skirts, dresses, suits, shorts, shirts, tees, tanks), outerwear (coats, jackets, gloves, hats, scarves), footwear (shoes, boots, heels, sneakers, sandals, socks, tights), undergarments (bras, underwear, slips, camisoles), accessories (hats, belts, ties, scarves, headbands), handbags (wallets, totes, luggage, backpacks, briefcases), linens (towels, sheets, comforters, blankets, tablecloths). Textile items may be brought in garbage bags.

This is a fantastic opportunity to keep these items out of the landfill. Those wishing to participate may recycle their items for $10/carload (cash only). Funds will help to support conservation efforts at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge. Friends of Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge will receive cash per pound for recycled textiles, so be sure to clean out your closets for this great cause. This event will be occurring rain or shine.

Event volunteers will be following the CDC social distancing guidelines including wearing masks, and recyclers are encouraged to do the same. Friends of Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge will be hosting the drop off location with the help of Recycle I.T. USA Toledo LLC and Clothes Bin Ohio.

Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge cooperatively manages the Lakefront Preserve in partnership with the City of Port Clinton. The Port Clinton Lakefront Preserve is located on E. Perry Street (SR 163), Port Clinton. The Recycling Round Up will be held in the parking area near the Port Clinton Lighthouse. (GPS pin 41°30'51.2"N 82°56'08.2"W).
