12/21/19 -- You have raised $15,000! Any additional funds raised between now and the end of the year will go towards attachments and upgrades to the tractor that the refuge maintenance team can fit into the budget. THANK YOU.

Refuge Tractor Fund

Did you know that Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge only has eight full-time staff members to manage 10,300 acres? The refuge relies on a strong team of dedicated volunteers to help accomplish all of the tasks to keep the refuge maintained well for both wildlife and visitors.

Last year, the number of volunteer hours logged on the refuge reached 15,000 hours, the equivalent of 7.5 full time employees. The help of volunteers nearly doubles the output of conservation work accomplished at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge. Volunteers are truly the lifeblood of the refuge.

In order to keep up the great work, the refuge needs more equipment for these volunteers to effectively do their jobs. This fall, the Friends are raising funds to purchase a John Deere 2025 Compact Utility Tractor that volunteers will use to maintain refuge trails. Our goal is to raise $15,000 by the end of the year so that the volunteer maintenance crew can start off the 2020 season with the tools they need.

Give today and support volunteers and your wildlife refuge!
